Job Purpose:
To assist site management by overseeing daily operations, ensuring that the staff and bench crew deliver products and perform their duties effectively and efficiently in a safe manner.
Job Description:

To ensure awareness of information contained in Technical Data Sheets, Safety Data Sheets, and similar literature and training material.

To improve staff awareness of safe working procedures to ensure compliance with company procedures, customer and regulatory requirements.

Ensure effective stock management and accurate record-keeping to eliminate explosives count variances. Manage sales reconciliations and invoicing in SAP ECC6 while meeting customer demands OTIF (On Time In Full).

To regularly conduct internal safety audits to enhance safety awareness and improve the attitude of the crew.

To report daily, weekly, and monthly on key performance indicators, maintain accurate records of site activities, prepare and submit operational reports, and ensure documentation complies with company policies and regulations.

To manage, lead and develop direct reports to ensure career growth and development in collaboration with the human capital training departments to ensure a highly disciplined and motivated team for continuous operations.

Provide technical assistance on the bench, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of explosives for maximum benefit. Address product quality issues with the quality team and serve as the main on-site contact for customers, resolving complaints and maintaining positive relationships.

Identify and implement operational improvements, stay updated on industry best practices and regulations, and participate in initiatives to enhance efficiency and safety.

Ensure site activities adhere to safety regulations and company policies by conducting regular audits, enforcing protocols, and reporting incidents.

Oversee site operations, including explosives handling and storage, coordinate with departments for timely product delivery, manage inventory, and ensure equipment maintenance.

To perform any other duties within his/her competencies as the demands of the job require to ensure efficient and continuous business operations


Qualification

Minimum of Higher National Diploma or equivalent in a technical field (preferably Mining Engineering)

Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in the explosives or mining industry

Statutory qualification/ holder of certificate of competency in blasting

In-depth working knowledge of the open-pit mining and underground operations and methods

In-depth working knowledge of blast performance assessment techniques and associated equipment

Good working knowledge of current explosives and mining legislations

Demonstrated experience in a broad range of commercial explosives applications

Familiarity with computer and engineering software and hardware

Computer literate and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite especially Excel

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), Ability to interact with Customers at all operational and management levels
