Role Overview:
The SEN Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they have the necessary tools to achieve academic success. This role requires a commitment to structured lesson planning, individualized learning strategies, and collaboration with colleagues, parents, and support services.
Key Responsibilities
As a Subject Teacher:
- Develop and maintain subject materials in alignment with curriculum objectives.
- Organize and update subject files as required by the Head of Department (HOD).
- Regularly update the scheme of work and teaching units to reflect best practices.
- Support the creation of assessment materials, including questions and mark schemes.
- Implement the school's merit/demerit system to encourage positive student behavior.
- Engage in regular discussions with parents regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
- Maintain professionalism at all times, ensuring a structured, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
As a Class Teacher
- Maintain a structured and orderly classroom environment, ensuring students are engaged and focused.
- Supervise students in arranging and maintaining an organized classroom setting.
- Work closely with year tutors and SEN coordinators to provide necessary support for students with special educational needs.
- Identify and communicate problem areas or concerns about students to the Guidance & Counseling department and school management.
- Oversee students' subject choices and provide guidance on academic and pastoral issues as they arise.
- Proofread and finalize student reports at the end of each term.
- Develop strong relationships with students, keeping records of important personal details (e.g., birthdays) to foster a supportive classroom environment.
